The journey
Most careers in finance move up. This one moved across. Six countries, four continents, and a firm built at the end of it.
Joins ICICI Bank. Learns the trade in retail, then corporate and investment banking.
First international posting. Corporate banking in Muscat, where the GCC-India corridor becomes a working reality.
Runs a country franchise in Jakarta. Full responsibility for a market, a balance sheet and a team.
A fourth continent. Emerging-market finance far from home, and the discipline that goes with it.
Founds a DFSA-regulated firm in the DIFC. Advisory, fund management, structured credit and investment banking under one roof.
Excellence in Banking and Finance, Indo-European Business Forum Awards.
The firm he built in Dubai is the sum of the markets he worked in before it. The method is simpler. Read the market, not the mood.
Career
How he works
We're not driven by emotions in the equity segment. Our decisions are based solely on market dynamics.
Amardeep Sharma, Asia One
Greenback Capital is not swayed by the mood of the market. In bullish and bearish conditions alike, the firm takes a pragmatic, balanced approach to investing, with recommendations tied to each client's objectives and risk appetite rather than to sentiment.
Sharma leads by example and has built a culture where team members are expected to contribute ideas, innovate and keep learning. He has been outspoken about gender diversity at Greenback, where women make up the majority of the workforce, and credits diverse teams with the perspectives that keep the firm ahead.
A detailed understanding of the regulatory frameworks that govern financial services has let the firm build an international client base while keeping its boutique character.

Beyond Greenback

His professional journey reflects the increasingly international nature of Indian financial expertise, with experienced banking professionals moving into investment management, capital advisory and entrepreneurship across global financial centres.
The thread is consistent. In every market, the work was the same: take something that was hard to reach and put a regulated structure around it.
